Liverpool have confirmed Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister as their first summer signing.
The Argentine emerged as a top target for the Reds last month and the club have moved quickly to secure his services.
The Merseyside outfit have paid £35 million up front for the player, and the deal could rise to £55m with add-ons.
Shortly after joining the club, Mac Allister said: “It’s a dream come true and I can’t wait. I wanted to be in [from] the first day of pre-season, so it’s good that everything is done.”
Mac Allister should be a brilliant signing for the Reds, considering he can comfortably play in multiple positions.
He started off as a defensive midfielder, but is now capable of operating in central midfield, attacking midfield or out wide.
The 24-year-old scored 12 goals and registered three assists last term and Liverpool will be eyeing a similar contribution.
Apart from Mac Allister, Liverpool are working on signing two more midfielders before the beginning of pre-season.Gabri Veiga and Manu Kone are currently the top names on their wishlist.
