Manchester United are expected to make an opening bid for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, according to ESPN.
The Red Devils are planning to sign a creative number eight this summer and Mount has been earmarked as the top target.
They have already agreed terms with 24-year-old and ESPN claim that United are now lining up a transfer offer for him.
However, it is claimed that the proposal could be rejected by the Blues as there is a significant gap in the valuation.
United are currently reluctant to pay more than £55m for the Englishman while the Blues are eyeing at least £80m.
Talks are planned over the next few days and it remains to be seen whether the Blues are convinced to lower their price.
If there is no change of stance, United seem prepared to move on to alternative targets such as Moises Caicedo.
Caicedo does not possess the same creativity as Mount, but has plenty of potential and could develop into a world-class star.
