Bayern Munich are lining up a surprise move for Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta, according to SportBILD.
The Bavarian giants are currently uncertain over the future of Benjamin Pavard whose contract expires in June 2024.
The Frenchman has turned down a new deal, and he is widely expected to be sold during the summer transfer window.
Amidst this, SportBILD claim that the German champions are looking into a cut-price move for Azpilicueta from Chelsea.
The Spaniard has been a key player for the Blues over the past decade, but his playing time is expected to reduce next term.
The Blues signed Malo Gusto from Lyon in January and he is expected to compete with Reece James for the right-back role.
This would leave Azpilicueta as the third-choice right-back. Bayern are prepared to offer an escape route for the Spaniard.
Azpilicueta was anticipated to join Barcelona last summer before he signed a new deal. He could leave them this time around.
