Arsenal have confirmed the departure of midfielder Granit Xhaka to Bayer Leverkusen on a permanent deal.
The Switzerland international had a fantastic season with the Gunners, registering nine goals and seven assists.
He excelled from the central attacking midfield role and won over the fans, who previously had differences with him.
Xhaka has now been allowed to return to Bundesliga with Leverkusen. He has signed a five-year contract with the club.
The Gunners have also made good money from the club. Leverkusen are expected to pay around £21 million with bonuses.Arsenal have already found Xhaka’s replacement in Declan Rice, who is due to arrive from West Ham United this week.
He will undergo his medical with the Gunners tomorrow, and could be presented to the fans by Saturday or Sunday.
Rice comes with huge expectation on his shoulders. The Gunners have spent a staggering £100m to secure his services.
The 24-year-old is a defensive midfielder by trade, but manager Mikel Arteta sees him as a potential number six.
