Chelsea are aiming to land the signature of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo by next week.
The Blues are determined to land a holding midfielder in the current transfer window and they are prioritising a move for Caicedo.
The 21-year-old has already accepted terms over a long-term deal, and the club are now in direct talks with Brighton over the fee.
The Seagulls currently value their midfielder at £100 million, but the Blues are reluctant to offer more than £80m at the moment.
Nonetheless, discussions continue between the clubs and there is optimism from the Blues’ end that Brighton will lower the price.
Caicedo has already given the green light for the transfer, and the Blues will be hoping to find an agreement with the Seagulls soon.
Aside from a defensive midfielder, the club are also looking to pursue a marquee striker with Dusan Vlahovic being the top target.
Juventus currently value the Serbian in the region of £69m.
