Manchester United have offered Fred and Donny van de Beek as makeweights to sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.
The Red Devils are determined to land a new centre-forward this summer, and they have identified Hojlund as their priority target.
The club recently proposed a part-exchange deal involving Fred and Van de Beek for Hojlund, but Atalanta were not pleased.
The Serie A outfit are reluctant to consider any swap moves for their prized asset, and would only accept a straight-cash deal.
Meanwhile, The Athletic claim that Atalanta won’t accept anything less than €100 million to part ways with the 20-year-old.
Such a fee is well beyond the budget of United, and it is claimed that the club could be forced to look elsewhere for a striker.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani is one of the players on the club’s radar and he could be available for around €80m.
However, it has been reported that Paris Saint-Germain could be favourites to sign him amid his preference to return to France.
