Arsenal have turned their attention to signing Romeo Lavia from Southampton after ending their interest in Moises Caicedo.
The north London giants are currently in advanced talks with West Ham United for Declan Rice, and they could sign him for around £100m.
Due to the huge outlay, the club have ended their interest in Caicedo, and they are still keen on landing another quality defensive midfielder.
As per The Telegraph, the Gunners have switched their focus to Lavia, who could be prised away from Southampton for around £45 million.
The Saints are reluctant to lower the fee at the moment, but the Gunners remain optimistic of driving down the price tag for the youngster.
Lavia was excellent in his debut Premier League season last term. He won an impressive five duels and two tackles per appearance.
The youngster also completed 86 per cent of his passes and stood out in the stalemates against the Gunners with his defensive solidity.
