Atletico Madrid are set to sign Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta on a free transfer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Spaniard is currently the longest-serving player in the Blues squad, but he is now on the verge of leaving them.
Azpilicueta initially agreed personal terms with Inter Milan, but he has changed his stance after Atletico’s interest.
Romano claims that the defender’s family has decided to return to Spain. He will sign for the La Liga side on a free.
The 33-year-old currently has a year left on his Chelsea contract, but he is expected to mutually terminate the deal.
The Blues will oblige to his request as a respect for his time at the club.
