Bayern Munich have reportedly moved ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Kim Min-jae this summer.
The South Korea international has been fancied to join United in the last few weeks with reports claiming that personal terms have been agreed.
However, the entire dynamic has now changed with Bayern entering the race.
The Bavarian giants are preparing to part ways with Lucas Hernandez this summer, and have identified Min-jae as the ideal replacement.
The 26-year-old played as a central defender for Napoli last term, but he also possesses the ability to operate from the left-back position.
Bayern are reportedly aware of that, and Sky Germany report that they are currently in advanced negotiations with his representatives.
The German champions are growing confident that they can beat the Red Devils and Newcastle to the player’s signature next month.
His release clause will become active from July 1 to 15. The value of the clause depends on the club and could range between €50-70m.
