Chelsea are having second thoughts over signing Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia this summer.
The Belgian youngster signed for the Saints from Manchester City last summer and he has been brilliant for them.
Lavia is expected to leave the Saints after their relegation from the top tier but there are doubts whether Chelsea will sign him.
The west London giants have followed Lavia closely over the past few months but now prefer a different player profile.
The Blues are looking for a more creative midfielder. Lavia’s strongest suit is his defending and ability to win regular duels.
The news could come as a potential boost for the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.
Both clubs consider Lavia as a number six and this could boost their chances of landing his signature over the Blues.
Lavia is currently valued by the Saints at £50 million. Manchester City have an option to buy him for £40m next summer.
