Chelsea have finally reached an agreement with Villarreal to sign Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson this summer.
The Blues agreed personal terms with the 22-year-old earlier this month, and they have now finalised the transfer fee.
Instead of triggering the striker’s €35 million release clause, they have agreed to pay a higher sum in multiple instalments.
Jackson has already travelled to the English capital, and he is expected to undergo his medical in the next 24 hours.
The young striker comes with a huge reputation. He scored nine goals in his last eight La Liga matches for Villarreal.
The Blues don’t consider him as the main striker next season, and they are expected to make another marquee signing.
Earlier this year, the club recruited David Datro Fofana from Molde, but it seems he could be loaned out next season.Chelsea could target Goncalo Ramos or Randal Kolo Muani as their marquee striker in the forthcoming weeks.
They are likely to face competition for the duo. Manchester United and Bayern Munich are among admirers of the pair.
