After being released on a free transfer by Ajax, former Man Utd defender has surprised many by joining Bayern Munich of the Bundesliga. The Dutch international, a starter during the Netherlands’ World Cup campaign, is very highly thought of at the Bavarian club and has been rewarded with an 18 month contract in Munchen.
The 32-year-old arrives at Bayern with dozens of medals during his playing career, and hopes to further add to that collection with the German perennial title contenders.
Blind, speaking to reporters, said: “I can’t wait to play here. We are now facing the most important part of the season, which is about the titles – and a club like Bayern can win any trophy.
“The hunger for titles in the club was decisive for my decision. I hope I can use my experience to help the team and I will give my all for Bayern Munich.”
It is understood that Ajax agreed to let Blind leave on a free knowing that a possible dream move to Bayern Munich was on the horizon.
