Kai Havertz has moved to the top of Arsenal’s transfer wishlist, as the club pursue moves for the Chelsea forward alongside West Ham midfielder Declan Rice this summer. The Germany international has been a regular starter at Stamford Bridge, but may be deemed surplus to requirements in a deal that could see the player move across London.
Arsenal’s best Premier League campaign in a decade saw them finish second in the table, and now manager Mikel Arteta wants to improve his squad with a big acquisition from West London.
The 24-year-old has played 91 games for the Blues, and will provide cover for Gabriel Jesus up front at the Emirates. It is also understood that Arteta wants Havertz to play on the right of attack as a backup for Bukayo Saka, who recently signed a new contract.
A deal would be worth approximately £60 million, as the Blues look to redeem a chunk of the £59 million that they paid for Havertz three years ago.
It is understood that Havertz is desperate to move to Arsenal.
