Liverpool are set to compete with Arsenal in the race to sign Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia this summer.
The Gunners have already held talks with the player’s representative, but they are yet to make a formal proposal.
A move may depend on Thomas Partey’s departure. Lavia has been identified as a replacement for the Ghanaian.
Amidst this, it is claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s side have joined the hunt for the youngster, who is expected to leave the Saints.
The South Coast outfit were relegated from the top-flight last term and they are prepared to cash in on Lavia this summer.
Lavia is currently valued at around £45m million, and Liverpool seem keen on beating the Gunners to the player’s services.
Lavia’s agent has a good relationship with the Gunners. He is also the representative of Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah.
A verbal agreement is apparently in place over personal terms, but it does not mean anything if they don’t make a formal bid.
