Liverpool are set to compete with Manchester United to land the signature of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
The Merseyside outfit are currently on the verge of selling Fabinho to Al Ittihad for a reported fee of £40 million.
They are expected to invest the money on another top quality midfielder, and it seems Amrabat is one of the targets.
The Athletic claim that the Reds are considering an approach for the Moroccan, but they could face competition.
United also hold an interest in the 26-year-old. They attempted to land him on loan during the January transfer window.
Amrabat currently has a year left on his contract at Fiorentina, but the Serie A club have the option for another 12 months.
He has made the decision to head for the exit door, but Fiorentina are expected to demand at least £26m for him.Liverpool will be hoping to beat their arch-rivals to the Moroccan, who is keen on playing at a higher level next season.
