Manchester United have made a third bid worth €50 million to sign Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.
The Red Devils are looking for a new number one between the sticks. Onana has been identified as the top target.
The club have already failed with two bids of €40m and €45m, and have now made a fresh proposal of around €50m.
The offer is set to be rejected by Inter, but Fabrizio Romano claims that United are not far from securing a transfer.
Inter are willing to accept €55m for the Cameroonian star, and they are already eyeing a low-cost replacement.
The Nerazzurri are currently looking to re-sign Romelu Lukaku on a permanent basis from Chelsea this summer.
They plan to utilise the funds recouped from Onana’s sale for the Belgian. Inter could propose to re-sign him for €40m.
Onana would be an excellent signing for the Red Devils, and his arrival could spell the end of David de Gea’s 12-year stay.
His contract expired at the end of last month. It is highly unlikely that he will accept a back-up role behind Onana next term.
