Newcastle United could reportedly beat Manchester United in the race to sign Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos this summer.
The Magpies were tremendous in the recent Premier League campaign, and they finished fourth in the table ahead of Liverpool.
The club are now eyeing high-profile additions to the squad. They have already signed Sandro Tonali and Ramos could be next.
Ramos was in fantastic form for Benfica in all competitions last term. He registered 27 goals and provided 12 assists in 47 games.
Benfica are ready to discuss his sale for €80m, and it would be a huge statement from Newcastle if they manage to sign him.Eddie Howe’s side already have Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson in their ranks and Ramos could make them title challengers.
United are also interested in signing the highly-rated striker, but they can’t afford to spend big at the moment due to FFP issues.
The club have a remaining budget of around €65m after Mason Mount’s arrival and need player sales to move for Ramos.
