Newcastle United have launched a bid for Slovakia international defender David Hancko, with the Feyenoord left-sided defender set to leave the Eredvisie for a new challenge in England. The 25-year-old has previously had spells with Fiorentina and Sparta Prague, after coming through the ranks at boyhood club Zilina.
Hancko has 29 caps for Slovakia and is seen as the brightest prospect to have emerged from his country in many years. Newcastle United are seeking to bolster their defensive cover for the 2023-24 season. This season, Fabian Schar, Kieran Tripper, Dan Burn and Sven Botman have been manager Eddie Howe’s preferred back four, but with a host of faces linked with a transfer to St James’ Park, it is possible that Hancko could be the first to make the move to the Toon Army.
It is understood that Newcastle United have tabled a 25 million euro to Feyenoord for the defender, and are confident a deal can be wrapped up in early July for the centre-back. Newcastle will beat AC Milan, Inter Milan and Villarreal to the signing.
