Wesley Fofana has been left out of Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the United States as he is carrying a knee injury.
The Frenchman had a disappointing debut campaign with the Blues last term where he was largely sidelined with a serious knee injury.
He managed to return to full fitness towards the end of the season, but it seems he has picked up another setback this summer.
Fofana won’t be travelling to the US as a result, and will instead spend time at Cobham working with the medical staff this month.
The Blues will be hoping that the centre-back has not suffered anything serious and he could be involved in the final part of pre-season.
The Blues finished a lowly 12th in the Premier League last term, and will be aiming for a drastic improvement under Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino comes with a good pedigree after his previous spell at Tottenham, but Chelsea will expect silverware alongside steady progress.
