Paris St Germain have activated their buy back option to sign midfielder Xavi Simons from PSV Eindhoven. It is understood that PSG have only paid 5 million euros to sign the Dutch international, who has just agreed to a long-term deal in Paris for the next five seasons.
Xavi Simons caught the eye of numerous teams, including West Ham who are seeking a replacement for Declan Rice, who yesterday joined Arsenal in a £105 million deal.
PSG moved swiftly to ensure they would bring the midfielder back to France.
Simons played for PSG from 2019 to 2022, and prior to France the midfielder also had a spell in Barcelona from where he learned his trade as a junior, spending nine years at the Catalan giants. After an impressive season in Eindhoven, where Simons scored 19 goals in 34 games, PSG could not turn down the opportunity to re-sign the Dutchman.
It is understood that PSG see the player as an important member of the club’s starting XI for the upcoming season, and he will appear on a regular basis.
