Chelsea have handed a new long-term contract to defender Levi Colwill following his promising loan spell at Brighton.
The Blues graduate was loaned out to the Seagulls in the recent campaign where he made more than 20 appearances.
His progress has impressed the hierarchy, and they are now keen to reward him with a new contract with a huge pay rise.
Colwill has yet to respond to their request, and he is expected to hold talks with manager Mauricio Pochettino this month.
The youngster has his sights on international football in future, and wants to be playing regularly at club level here onwards.Brighton have tried to sign Colwill on a permanent basis this summer, but Chelsea are clear that he won’t be sold for any fee.
The Seagulls could make a fresh approach later in the transfer window if Colwill continues to resist from signing a renewal.Arsenal are also interested in the highly-rated centre-back, but they seem to be focusing on Ajax star Jurrien Timber at the moment.
